Tekla Structure Issue: Custom Component Beam Spacing

I am looking at a making a custom component similiar to BayFillerSeam but mine will have spacing that can be input, instead of just equal spaces.

My problem comes in trying to bind the first beam that sets the spacing. I need some way to bind it to a grid line or pick point, is there anyway to accomplish this?

Right now, I pick the two supporting beams, then I pick two points (defining direction) and the beams will be spaced with what is in the spacing field. It works fine IF the supporting beams do not have connections (i.e. still going to grid points) because I have the first beam bound to the end of the beam, if they have connections then the first spacing moves along with that.

Trying to find a way to bind the first beam to the grid line (CL of column) is in case the supporting beam does have a connection. Column is not part of the CC so I can't bind it to the center plane and besides its a 3-plate column so its not exactly centered on the grid line, why I need another way.

thanks
